How does it work?

This section provides a simple guide to the elements making up a typical automation system for gates, garage doors or barrier gates.

Radio
controls

The transmitter is the most commonly used control device for activation of the gate, garage door and barrier.
The transmitter normally has one or more keys (channels) memorised with the commands on the control unit and powered by an internal battery. To operate, the transmitter must be combined with a specific receiver, the latter also equipped with one or more channels to receive signals sent by the transmitter. Several compatible transmitters can be memorised on each receiver.

Switches and
proximity readers

In addition to the transmitter, the user can activate the automation by means of a key or digital switch or using a proximity reader for transponder cards.

Gearmotors for gates, garage doors and barrier gates

The motor acts on the gate, garage door and barrier to enable movement.
It can be single or double, mounted underground (in the case of swing gates) or externally (swing gates, sliding gates and garage doors).

Control
units

The control unit contains the electronics for control of the motors used to activate the gate, garage door and barrier.
It can be external, connected to one or two motors, or integrated in the motor itself.
There are different types of control unit, ranging from the simplest versions to the more sophisticated models with advanced functions.
The control unit acquires signals sent from the exterior (e.g. from photocells) and can also incorporate the radio receiver.

Safety
devices

Photocells
Photocells are presence detectors to enable obstacle detection within the operating radius of the automation. On detection of an obstacle, the photocells send a pulse signal to the control unit, which blocks automation movement via the motors. These devices guarantee improved safety of automated gates and garage doors with respect to manual versions.

Flashing lights and courtesy lamps
The flashing light is used to indicate all movements of the gate, garage door and barrier gate to increase visibility for those located in the vicinity.
