Nice takes part in 4e, the event dedicated to artificial intelligence and innovation
20 November 2025
Nice took part in 4e – Engineering, Energy, Ecology, Ethics, the event organized by Jacobacci & Partners that brings together companies, start-ups, research centers and institutions to discuss innovation-related topics. This year’s focus was artificial intelligence and how it is transforming products, processes and business models.
Nice’s presence confirms the Group’s commitment to developing solutions based on AI, automation and advanced technologies for smart living.
Federico Faggin’s keynote: “Intelligence Beyond the Machine”
One of the most eagerly awaited moments of the day was the speech by Federico Faggin, physicist, inventor of the first microprocessor and one of the most authoritative voices in the international debate on artificial intelligence.
In his keynote, titled “Intelligence Beyond the Machine,” Faggin explored key topics of his research and of his recent book “Oltre l’invisibile” (“Beyond the Invisible”): the relationship between artificial and human intelligence, the role of consciousness, the limits of current computational architectures and the need for an ethical and responsible approach to technology development. His reflections offered a wide and profound perspective on the future of AI and on the meaning of innovation in an era in which the line between human and digital is increasingly thin.
AI and the future of innovation: the round table with Nice Group CTO
Nice played a leading role in the round table “Innovating Tradition. Business between past and future,” which featured Nice Group CTO Vincenzo Girlando alongside Luca Giavi, Director of the Prosecco DOC Protection Consortium, and Antonio Palermo, Group Data Protection Officer of Angelini Industries.
The discussion tackled strategic topics such as the impact of artificial intelligence on the Italian production system, data protection, the value of intellectual property, and the role of emerging technologies in business competitiveness. Nice’s contribution brought a perspective focused on applied research, smart systems engineering and the development of integrated solutions for smart home and smart building.
Nice in the thematic working groups on mechatronics and training
Nice’s presence also extended to the thematic tables dedicated to mechatronics and training, two key areas for the evolution of intelligent technologies.
In the first, our IP Manager, Stefano Checchin, discussed the importance of intellectual property and technological design in a rapidly changing sector, highlighting the impact of AI in automation processes.
In the second, Mattia Barattin and Carlo Pontorno from the Marketing team shared their experience on the growth of digital skills, continuous learning, and the adoption of visual and interactive languages in modern organizations.
Start-ups and emerging technologies: the Gallery Walk Live – Pitch Battle
The event also hosted the Gallery Walk Live – Pitch Battle, a moment dedicated to the most innovative start-ups on the Italian scene.
The incubators and accelerators in attendance presented projects related to artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced materials and data-driven solutions. Among them: Eureka Venture with Active Label, H-FARM with Rilemo, I3P of the Politecnico di Torino with Loki, Industrio Ventures with MaCh3D, LeVillage by CA Triveneto with Quindi, Motor Valley Accelerator with RARA Factory, t2i Veneto with Live Information System, Trentino Sviluppo with AISPOT, the University of Padua with BBSoF – Beyond Biomechanics Sports on Field, and UniSMART with Rozes.
The Gallery Walk confirmed the vitality of the innovation ecosystem and the central role of collaboration between companies, research and new entrepreneurial ventures.
AI at Nice: applications of artificial intelligence
Participation in 4e was also an opportunity to share some developments related to the use of AI within Nice.
In the product sphere, we are using predictive algorithms to estimate battery life in tubular motors, optimize operating limits and integrate voice, sound and perimeter recognition technologies into smart home and security systems.
On the commercial processes side, AI enables us to analyze customer behavior, improve visit planning, offer more personalized promotions and reduce the environmental impact of our sales teams’ travel.
Training is changing as well: we are experimenting with tools that automatically generate multilingual courses starting from technical materials and a few voice recordings, making knowledge more accessible and scalable.
Lastly, artificial intelligence plays an essential role in brand protection: thanks to advanced web monitoring systems, we are able to identify and block illegal activities online, with over 27,000 counterfeit sales intercepted in the last year.
AI is an enabling technology that strengthens Nice’s vision of a world that is increasingly open, connected and sustainable. Through research, technological integration and investment in intellectual property, Nice continues to develop solutions that improve people’s experience and support the growth of the smart living sector.
Listen to the interview with Davide Bignù, Chief Marketing & Design Officer at Nice, conducted by Jacobacci & Partners during the 4e event.
